BIOGRAPHY

He started his career as a production assistant and script writer with Doordarshan, Trivandrum, 1996–2000 and later has worked with major television channels; Indiavision- Kochi, 2000-2002, Middle East Television (MET)- Dubai, 2002-2004, Jeevan TV- Kochi, 2004 and AMRITA TV- Trivandrum, 2004-2012 as Director of Programs. 

He shot into fame in 2000 with the TV Movie ‘Pedakom/The Box’ adapted from a short story by Guy de Maupassant. The film was telecasted on Asianet and it brought critical acclaim and several awards including the Kerala State Film Critics Association’s Award for best debut Director.

In 2006 Sohanlal was back in the limelight again, with a TV Film based on Kamala Das's famous story `Neermathalthinte Pookkal/ Flowers of Neermaathalam’, a poignant expression of her childhood memories. The film was produced and telecasted by Amrita TV and brought him international attention through festivals and won more than 50 awards including Kerala State Awards for best TV Movie, Director, Screen Writer, Music and Audiography.

His debut FEATURE FILM ‘Orkkuka Vallappozhum /Remember once awhile’ released on January,2009. starring mainstream Malayalam actors won him the Award for Best Debut Film Director and the movie screened in various film festivals worldwide. Cast: Thilakan, Rajith Menon, Jagadeesh, Chali Pala, Shilpabala, Meera Vasudev, Master Dhananjay, Baby Malavika et.al. Produced by Gods Own Moviz. Story line: The return journey of an old man into the innocence of his past.

His second movie ‘Kadhaveedu /House of Stories’ released on November ,2013. Cast: Kunchako Boban, Biju Menon, Lal, Manoj K.Jayan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Bhama, Rituparna Sengupta, Mallika, Swapna Menon et.al.

The movie is the Historic come-together of the real gems of Malayalam literature M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer and Madhavikutty. Produced by Visual Dreams. The storyline can be described as ‘three husbands, three wives and a bachelor’.

'The Great Indian Road Movie', 2018 - the biggest pan Indian road movie ever produced - is his 3rd feature film.

DOORDARSHAN (1996-2000)

Worked as the casual assistant producer, commentator, anchor and scriptwriter.
Produced and directed so many programs in various basis like sponsored, royalty etc.

INDIAVISION (2000-2002)

Worked as the Producer-Programs of Indiavision.
Producer of the first program of Indiavision (Kanikanum Neram – telecast on April 14, 2002). Have generated more than 200 episodes of Programs for Indiavision. Have been associated with the Channel right from pre-launch time.

MIDDLE EAST TELEVISION (2002-2004)

Worked as the producer –Programs of Middle East Television, Dubai Media City.

Have generated more than 1,000 episodes of Programs for MET as producer and Director. Some of the programs are: Timepass, Play Station, Meghasandesham, Dance Masala, Cut Cut, Sky Music, Love Masala, Divyasneham & Ungal Choice (Tamil). Have supported Channel Administration and co-ordination.

JEEVAN TV (2004)

Worked as Chief Program producer of Jeevan TV.

AMRITA TV (2004-2012)

Worked as Senior Program Producer and Promo In-Charge of Amrita TV.
Have generated more than 10 successful TV series for Amrita TV. Some of the programs are: Anjali, Ghazal, Samagamam ,Cinema Vicharana, Brand New, Aaradyam Parayum, Music Train and the ever green classical reality show of Malayalam Television -Ragaratnam .
